SMILE treat for Alan

The PST treated Alan Brown who lives in Lavender House and is 82 years old to a SMILE treat on Saturday 18th August, with tickets for him and his carer to the Luton Town game.

Alan recalled to PST Chair Ray Cole before the game that he remembered going to watch the Posh in the 1950’s when apart from the old North Stand everywhere was uncovered and he remembered Glebe Road had wooden terracing. He used to go and watch Posh with his mates and stood in the London Road end. His favourite players in the 1950’s were Freddie Martin and Teslim Balogun who scored shed loads of goals for the Posh. He also liked Ken Moody who played right back for the Posh.

Alan was thrilled to meet and have his photo taken with former Posh players Trevor Quow and Robbie Cooke before the game as he had been speaking about former Posh Manager Peter Morris and said what a great little team Posh had in the 1980’s under Peter Morris.

In his younger days Alan used to play football himself for Eye Utd and Wisbech Town and is still an avid football fan. Sadly though hasn’t been able to attend a ‘live’ games for many years.

Alex Wehr, Entertainment Manager at Lavender House said “Alan is football mad and is always talking football. He was really looking forward to coming to watch the Posh again as he has not seen them play for many years and was delighted they won so convincingly and he had a great day out. He would like to thank everyone at Peterborough Utd and the PST who made the day so special”.
