Just 107 days after being formed on the 17th May 1934 the Posh played their very first league match on 1st September 1934.
Managed by Jock Porter, Posh finished a creditable 10th in the Midland League in their very first season in existence.
Posh won their very first Midland League game 4-0 against Gainsborough Trinity at London Road and only failed to score in 6 league games.
The Posh team for the first league game against Gainsborough Trinity was: Jackson, Harris, Purcell, Staniland, Doyle, Hargreaves, Rigby, Cowen, Thompson, Camidge and Roberts.
For the Posh no.3 Mark Purcell this was his first and only Midland League appearance for the Posh.
On the 6th April 1935 Billy Rigby became the first Posh player to be sent off. Dismissed at London Road against Lincoln City Reserves Posh still managed to draw the game 0-0.
