The Posh Supporters Trust Launch their Fifth New Posh Fans Initiative

The Posh Supporters’ Trust in conjunction with Peterborough United F.C. and our sponsors Oakham Ales, Cartell MOT World and Printing Matters have invited families in the Dogsthorpe area, to apply for Free Tickets to watch Championship football at London Road.

The initiative designed to introduce New Supporters to London Road, will provide approx 150 free tickets per match for new supporters to attend one of the following fixtures. Barnsley, Coventry, Birmingham, Brighton and Bristol City. The Trust will meet and greet the new fans on the respective dates and provide them with the opportunity to attend the following home match at a discounted price.

Previous new posh fans initiatives organised by the Trust have been very successful with many new fans becoming regulars and some are now season ticket holders at London Road.

New Posh Fans Initiative

The Posh Supporters Trust, with the full backing of Peterborough United, introduced the “New Posh Fans Initiative Scheme” in 2008 to get more people in our community interested in their local football club. The scheme that is especially focussed on families, introduces new fans to Peterborough United, by giving them a taste of football league action for Free.

The Trust distributes leaflets to a selected residential area inviting families to apply for free tickets to a specific match. Successful applicants get to go to one free match at London Road. The Trust will meet and greet the new fans personally on the day and direct them to their reserved seats. In addition to that free game, the new fans also receive a discount voucher for a future game, giving them an immediate incentive to come back and watch their new team.

The aim of the “New Posh Fans Initiative Scheme” is to get the newcomers to become occasional and then regular fans of the Posh, as a result of enjoying that first match day experience we gave them. Because we can keep in touch with them, we and the club encourage them back, advertise promotions and track the success of the scheme.

We have previously targeted and administered 3 successful “New Fans” initiatives to the council wards of : Orton with Hampton, Werrington North and Stanground East. In addition our 4th initiative was to targeted to selected areas of Yaxley.

Approximately 3500 fans have attended as our guests since we launched the scheme. Many of them now consider themselves to be “Posh Fans” some attending as often as they can, and some are regular season ticket holders.

In the long term, we aim to cover many areas in and around the City, to find and covert many new Posh fans. Success is not just in new regular fans though, we will also have succeeded if we help to gain more interest in the club and raise the public awareness of their local football club.
