Darragh MacAnthony Takes Control of PUFC, 25/08/07

The Posh Supporters Trust is delighted by the announcement of Darragh MacAntony's takeover of the Football Club. This is a vital step in allowing the club to fully develop towards a better future. The nature of the takeover means that Peterborough United Holdings now just owns the stadium and the Moys End Car Park, so remaining as the club's landlord. This also means that the club's move to a new stadium is more likely, as Darragh has always said this is what he intended to do.

Along with making strong representations at the recent public inquiry and Council planning meeting over the issue of the proposed building of the flats and the new stand, the Trust has tried to help Darragh and his team by giving them all the knowledge and background information that the Trust had on the complex Holding Company and Football Club ownership.

We are very encouraged to see demanding targets being set for the current and future seasons, and are especially pleased to see the reference to improved supporter relationships, which we believe are essential to the development of success at the club. The Trust hopes to fully participate in this, and particularly in contributing to efforts to increase the number of home fans attending matches. This will require a good understanding of the needs and wishes of fans, and a general re-building of support towards the club. We will respond positively to any proposals which will enhance the standing of supporters, and which will lead to a stronger Football Club.
