The FA Youth Cup

In this section of the museum we share details of the Peterborough Utd Youth teams escapades in the FA Youth Challenge Cup.

The FA Youth Cup was initially a competition for County Associations which the Football Association had hoped would identify players for Youth Internationals plus give youngsters the chance to play in a national contest for the first time.

However in 1951 it was realised that a competition for clubs would probably have a wider appeal and so the FA Youth Challenge Cup as it is known today came into effect in the 1952–53 season. The competition is for Under 18 sides.

We have split this section of the museum into seven sub-sections; one for each decade from the 1950’s. To view any decade simply click on the ‘Museum’ tab at the top of this page, hover over ‘FA Youth Cup’ then click on the decade you wish read about.

Unfortunately we are missing details of a number of games / seasons so if you have any information on any of the games where we do not have any details, please contact us at enquiries@theposhtrust.co.uk so that we can update the relevant page of the museum.
