Dizzie Burton

Born near Barnsley, Dizzie (real name Stanley) played for the Posh just one season (the 1947/48 season).

Dizzie played for Doncaster Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers (for whom he appeared in the 1939 FA Cup final).

Interesting fact: Dizzie was partially deaf and so did not play to the whistle. His nickname of “Dizzie” was due to him continuing to run after the referee had blown his whistle!
