Peter Morris

Born 8 November 1943 in New Houghton, Derbyshire, Peter played over 300 games for Mansfield Town, over 200 for Ipswich Town and over 50 for Norwich City.  His first managerial post was at Mansfield Town as player-manager where he achieved promotion to the Second Division in 1976-77. Peter became Posh boss in the summer of 1979 and even managed one appearance for the Posh. During his time as Manager,  the Posh missed out on promotion back to the old Third Division on a a number of occasions twice finishing fifth. Peter signed both Billy Kellock and Robbie Cooke who became firm Posh favourites of the time. Peter left the Posh as he was reported to be unhappy at the lack of financial support for his promotion push and the proposed disbanding of the youth and reserve teams. After leaving the Posh Peter went on to manage Crewe Alexandra and Southend Utd in the football league plus a number of non-league clubs.
