Born 18 December 1968 in Wakefield Mark started his career with Bristol City in 1987. During a 22-year playing career he was at 17 clubs, playing 457 league games, scoring  115 goals. Mark become Darren Ferguson’s successor as Posh manager having managed non league clubs Tamworth and Kettering Town who he left second in the Conference table and on a twelve-game unbeaten run. On 19 December, the Posh won their only game with Mark in charge, a 2–1 home win against Watford. Later that month, in a match remembered by all those that didn’t leave at half time when trailing at home 4-0 to Cardiff City the Posh amazingly fought back to claim a 4–4 draw. Cooper was sacked just 13 games into his tenure as the Posh manager on 1 February 2010 with only 1 win in those 13 games
