Bob Doyle

Born 27th December 1953 in Dumbarton, Scotland.

Bob was signed by Noel Cantwell in July 1976 for £20,000 from Barnsley. Soon becoming a Posh favourite, Bob was voted Posh player of the season twice and was in the side that missed out on promotion to Division 2 on goal difference.

Bob was also voted the 3rd Division best player by the People newspaper for the 1976/77 season.

A fine passer, Bob was a stylish midfielder who scored his fair share of goals for the Posh. In total Bob made 130 League, 8 FA and 18 FL Cup appearances for the Posh.

Did you know: Posh received a record £100,000 transfer fee from Blackpool in July 1979 which remained a club record until 1992.
