Keith Ripley

Born 29 March 1935 – died  5 November 2012

Keith, a wing half, played for Posh for two seasons (1960/61 to 1961/62) making a total of 82 Football League appearances scoring 12 goals, 11 FA Cup appearances scoring 2 goals and 1 League Cup appearance.

Signed from Mansfield Town in July 1960, along with Norman Rigby and Jim Rayner, Keith formed a formidable half back trio dubbed the three R’s which played a significant part in the winning of the 4th Division Championship.

Keith made his Posh debut on the 7th September 1960 in Posh’s 2-0 win at Crystal Palace and retained a regular place in the team for the remainder of that season and the 1961/62 season.

His physical presence enabled him to dominate in the air and brush aside most challenges. More than just a ‘stopper’ Keith scored some vital goals for the Posh including one  in the 2-1 3rd Round FA Cup win at Portsmouth on the 7th January 1961.

Did you know: Before joining the Posh, Keith played for Mansfield Town where he made 31 appearances scoring 5 goals and prior to Mansfield he played for Leeds United where he made 67 appearances scoring 15 goals.
