Frank Rankmore

Born 21 July 1939 in Cardiff

Frank signed from Cardiff City by Posh Manager Jack Fairbrother, made his debut for the Posh on the opening day of the 1963/64 season in Posh’s 5-2 win over Wrexham.

As a result of his performances for the Posh, Frank was awarded his first, and only, cap for Wales when he played against Chile during a tour of South America in 1966. In 1968 he was sold to local rivals Northampton Town for £12,000, becoming the third Peterborough player to move to Northampton in the space of five months (Johnny Byrne and  John Fairbrother being the other two players moving to the County Ground).

In total Frank made 201 League, 17 FA Cup and 13 League Cup appearances for the Posh scoring 8 goals.

Did you know: Frank was recommended to the Posh by another Posh legend Derek ‘The Doog’ Dougan.
