Ian Crawford

Born 14 July 1934 in Edinburgh – died 30 November 2007

Signed by Posh Manager Gordon Clark, Ian made his debut for the Posh at Exeter in the opening game of the 1964/65 season. A creative talent on either wing Ian switched to left back before the end of the 1964/65 season and remained there for two seasons. An injury kept him out of the team for the most of the 1967/68 season but returned to play regularly in the 1st team in the 1968/69 season.

Ian played in both legs of the Posh’s 1965/66 League Cup semi-final games.

In total Ian made 172 league appearances (scoring 6 goals), 9 FA Cup appearances and 15 League Cup appearances for the Posh.

After the Posh Ian got into coaching where he served both Everton and Arsenal in that capacity.

Did you know: Ian scored two goals for Hearts in the 1956 Scottish Cup Final not only watched by 56,000 fans but was also the club’s first Scottish Cup win in 50 years.
