Simon Davies

Born 23rd October 1979 in Haverfordwest, Wales

“Digger” as he was known by Posh fans made his Posh first team debut aged 18 at Hull City in January 1998.

A midfielder, Digger was a regular in the Posh midfield during the 1998/99 season and so good were his performances that at the age of just 19 was voted into the PFA Division 3 side. He also earned U18 and U21 caps for Wales.

His performances attracted the attention of many clubs including Manchester Utd where he spent a week training and received praise from Sir Alex Ferguson.

In January 2000 Simon along with Matthew Etherington was sold to Tottenham Hotspur in a combined fee of £1.2 million of which it was recorded that Davies’ fee was £700,000.

Did you know: Simon won 58 International caps for Wales and an UEFA Europa League runners-up medal in 2010 playing for Fulham.
