Paul Culpin

Born 8th February 1962 in Kirby Muxloe, Leicestershire

As a youth Paul was on the books of Leicester City however he wasn’t offered a contract so joined non-league side Nuneaton Borough where his goal scoring attracted much attention. Signed by then 1st Division side Coventry City for £50,000 in June 1985 Paul struggled to make an impact and moved to Northampton Town.

Signed by Posh Manager Mark Lawrensen for £40,000 from the Cobblers, Paul finished top scorer in the 1990/91 season when the Posh were promoted back to the 3rd Division of the Football League despite only making 21 starts.

Only making the bench in the 1991/92 season due to the forward partnership of Tony Adcock and Ken Charlery, Paul didn’t get the opportunity to justify his quote that “I’ll blast us up this League” and left the Posh for Hereford Utd in March 1992.

Did you know: Paul represented Finnish First Division side Grankulla IFK in  three different spells with the club.
