George Berry

Born 19th November 1957 in Rostrup, West Germany

Although George only played for the Posh for one season it was his goal in the 73rd minute at Chesterfield on the 11th May 1991 that sealed Posh’s promotion back to the 3rd Division of the Football League after 12 years in the bottom division which gained him his cult hero status.

Having played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, where we won the Football League Cup, George joined Stoke City in July 1982 where he stayed until 1990 when Posh signed him on a ‘free’.

George made 32 appearances for the Posh in the Football League (28 starting and 4 as a substitute), scored 6 goals and was an unused substitute on 4 occasions.

Did you know: After retiring from playing, George gained a business degree and became the senior commercial executive at the PFA.
