Andy Edwards

Born 17 September 1971 in Epping, Essex.

Andy started his career as a schoolboy at West Ham United before signing scholarship forms at Southend United in 1988.

Transferred in November 1996 to the Posh from Birmingham City, Andy made his Posh debut in Posh’s best win of the 1996/97 season on the 30th November when the side beat Rotherham United 6-2 at London Road.

Andy went on to captain the side to promotion at Wembley in 2000.

In total Andy made 266 starts for the Posh in the Football League which makes him ninth in the list of most (starting) Football League appearances for the club.

In March 2003 Andy joined Rushden & Diamonds and played a part in their promotion to the Second Division as champions. Andy scored the goal against Carlisle United that saw the club seal promotion.

Did you know: Andy was appointed Leyton Orient manager on 23 November 2016 but left just two months later on 29 January 2017 to take a role with the FA.
