In this section of the museum we share with you the crests that have been worn on Posh shirts.

From 1968 to 1972

1968

From the 1968/69 to 1971/72 season the initials of Peterborough United simply adorned the shirt as an emblem.

1972/73

1972

For one season only (1972/73) the crest changed to ‘Posh’ in italics.

1973/74

1973

Back to the initials of Peterborough United as the crest but this season within a white box.

From 1974 to 1977

1974

For three seasons (worn in the centre of the shirt) the crest changed to ‘Posh’ in a circle.

From 1977 to 1979

Our crest for the seasons 1977/78 and 1978/79 was circular and the Peterborough City Council’s ‘upon this rock’ coat of arms / logo. The words ‘The Posh’ and Peterborough United Football Club surrounded the crest.

From 1979 to 1987

1979

Still circular and the Peterborough City Council’s ‘upon this rock’ coat of arms / logo the crest, the wording Peterborough United Football Club was replaced with the initials PUFC underneath the crest. This crest was used for eight seasons.

From 1987 to 1990

1987

Still using the Peterborough City Council ‘upon this rock’ coat of arms / logo but this time grey in colour, the emblem / wording was the same as the 1977 to 1979 crest.

From 1990 to 2008

1990

For 18 years the crest was simply the Peterborough City Council ‘upon this rock’ coat of arms / logo with the words Peterborough United FC underneath.

From 2008 to date

Our current emblem based on the city council’s ‘upon this rock’ coat of arms / logo.
